Cloudy Onyx

Cloudy Onyx, sometimes referred to as Onyx Marble or just Onyx, is a metamorphic rock that was created by applying extreme heat and pressure on limestone or dolomite. Calcite and aragonite make up the majority of its composition, which gives it a distinctive translucent look and a broad spectrum of colours, including black, brown, green, and white.

Drawing from the Greek word “onyx,” which means “claw” or “fingernail,” the name “Onyx” alludes to the stone’s banded look. There is proof that it has been used for decoration for millennia, going all the way back to ancient Egypt and Rome.
